Geranium Dress with Peter Pan Collar and Puff Sleeves

April 20, 2017

**FREE Peter Pan collar and puff sleeve patterns for the Geranium Dress!**
--------------------

I love sewing for my little girl. Why? One word...dresses!

Tiny dresses are just so precious. My favorite dress pattern so far is the Geranium Dress by Made By Rae. It is $10, and worth every penny! Not only is it a classic silhouette, but it has so many variations that with one size, you can make 36 different garments! 36!! Can you believe that?

However, for the version of the Geranium that I made for my daughter this Easter, I had a specific look in mind, so I had to draft a few of my own elements.

A subtle peter pan collar and adorable puff sleeves worked perfectly with this vintage floral fabric I found at the thrift store.

Isn't this fabric just perfect? A light aqua with darling little roses. *swoon*

The bias tape around the edges of the collar and sleeves was from my grandma's stash. I was honored to receive some of her sewing supplies after she passed away, and I love how those details make the dress that much more meaningful.

I've never sewn a Peter Pan collar before, but it was surprisingly easy! I did have to tack it down in a few places to make it stay, but you can't even tell.

Aren't her little red patent leather shoes a perfect vintagey match for this sweet dress? :)

Are you ready for the FREE PATTERN I promised you?

Here it is!

A few notes on the patterns:
1) Please test the sleeve pattern on a piece of scrap fabric first to check fit - I made it to fit my very thin-armed daughter so tweaking may be necessary :)
2) The bias tape for the sleeve was cut to about an inch or so longer than the measurement around my daughter's upper arm (plus allowances) and the bottom of the sleeve was gathered to that. The curve of the sleeve is of course gathered to the arm hole as well (I just eyeballed it).
3) All seam allowances are 1/4".
4) Be sure your PP collar pieces meet at the front middle 1/4" AWAY from the raw edge, not at the raw edge!
5) Remember to print at 100%, not "shrink to fit"!

Please let me know if you have any questions or problems with the pattern. This is just something I drafted up quickly and I'd love to improve on it with any suggestions :)

I hope you all had a lovely Easter, and thank you for reading! <3

Knitted Farmhouse Dishcloth

February 07, 2017

I got my first pair of knitting needles a while ago, but never really got the hang of knitting until recently.

I started this dishcloth (pattern - here) last summer and then forgot about it. Now it's finally done and I can't wait to make more!

I had a small ball of Lily Sugar 'n Cream worsted cotton yarn in my stash that was perfect for this project.

Red has become my new favorite accent color for my home. I dream of a lovely white cottage kitchen with charming red accents, including a basket of these red knitted dishcloths!

This is a great project for a beginner knitter (like me!). It might look complicated, but it really isn't. Give it a shot!
